FlowPlay Celebrates 10 Years of Creating Immersive Games and Online Communities, Building a Passionate Company Culture

From Startup to Industry Heavyweight, Company Marks Major Milestone and Continued Growth with $60,000 Donation to STEM Education

From Startup to Industry Heavyweight, Company Marks Major Milestone and Continued Growth with $60,000 Donation to STEM Education

SEATTLE, Feb. 23, 2017 -- FlowPlay, creator of the most powerful immersive gaming platform, today marked the company's 10-year anniversary, celebrating a decade of passion, innovation and community. Since its founding, more than 75 million people worldwide have been touched by FlowPlay's massively multiplayer games, which foster deep connections between players and cultivate passionate online communities. In commemoration of the milestone, FlowPlay announced a $60,000 donation to the Technology Access Foundation (TAF) Academy to support the future of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education in Washington state.

FlowPlay was co-founded by CEO Derrick Morton and CTO Doug Pearson under a community-first philosophy – which is evident across the company's values and its products. FlowPlay has maintained its philosophy, even amidst shifting market landscapes, digital transformations, and a video games industry often characterized by extremely demanding working conditions. Starting out with $7.2 million in angel and Series A funding, FlowPlay achieved profitability within its first few years and continues to grow, currently employing more than 60 people. Since launching its flagship social casino game Vegas World in 2012, FlowPlay's 200 percent year-over-year growth has led to inclusion on numerous fastest growing company lists, including raking as 10th in Washington state on the Deloitte Technology Fast 500. The company ranked 232 nationally, and was the only video game company in Washington to make the list.

"As entrepreneurs, we set out with big ideas and ambitions, but little certainty about the reality of our long-term viability," Morton said. "There were many challenges along the way, but Doug and I were passionate about the vision and remained determined to see the company through. Reaching profitability in 2010 was a huge milestone for our company, as is reaching our 10-year anniversary, which is something only a handful of startups achieve. We really credit our success to FlowPlay's company culture and the commitment to success that runs deep among every one of our employees."

"From a technical perspective, building FlowPlay's platform was a tremendous undertaking, one that required an investment of more than two years and millions of our initial startup dollars," Pearson said. "We wanted to take the appropriate steps that would ensure our platform was flexible enough to withstand market changes and adapt to advancing technologies and trends. The passion our team put into creating our technology continues to pay off on a yearly, monthly and even daily basis as we build out our mobile and white-label businesses, and leverage the technology to enter new markets."

FlowPlay's history of innovation, growth and community is defined by key milestones including:

  • NOVEMBER 2006Founded, combining Derrick's business acumen and vision in the digital entertainment industry with Doug's deep technology development expertise and a mutual passion for games.

  • FEBRUARY 2008Alaskan Way office opens, welcoming the company's first 15 employees.

  • APRIL 2008Launch of ourWorld as the first virtual world for tweens, breaking the mold for social, online games for kids.

  • NOVEMBER 2010 – FlowPlay achieves profitability and crosses 5 million users two years after launching ourWorld. Hits first profitable month with 23 percent month-over-month revenue growth, validating corporate vision for creating online communities merging Flash games with social communities.

  • DECEMBER 2015Vegas World tops social casino charts, achieving the highest monetization rates on desktop as part of the $4.4 billion social casino industry, according to statistics reported by SuperData Research.

  • FEBRUARY 2017 FlowPlay celebrates 10 years and gives $60,000 to TAF Academy, raising its total philanthropic contributions to more than $200,000.

"FlowPlay is one of those rare companies that places employees as a top priority while growing profitably in a brutally competitive market," said Michael Schutzler, CEO of Washington Technology Industry Association and FlowPlay board member. "FlowPlay is a valuable asset in Seattle's online gaming ecosystem. They are inventive, successful, and a super fun place to work."

One of the key tenets that separates FlowPlay from other technology companies, particularly in the games industry, is its emphasis on helping staff find fulfillment and a positive work-life balance. With less than 5 percent employee turnover in the company's decade in business, FlowPlay's lack of a management layer and unconventional perks like two work from home days each week, has cultivated an engaged and loyal workforce. As the company looks forward to its next 10 years, its team plans to continue innovating in existing and emerging markets and grow the staff, while staying true to its roots of nurturing community inside its walls and within its products.

Collectible Card Game Fans Draft Their Decks in Dynasty Football, Online Strategy Card Game from FlowPlay

Creator of the Most Robust Set of Free-to-Play Social Sports Wagering Games Invites Players to the Gridiron for Head-to-Head Card Matches

Creator of the Most Robust Set of Free-to-Play Social Sports Wagering Games Invites Players to the Gridiron for Head-to-Head Card Matches

SEATTLE, Nov. 1, 2016 -- FlowPlay, creator of the most powerful immersive gaming platform, today announced the launch of Dynasty Football, an online fantasy football strategy card game. Created for fantasy football fans and collectible card game enthusiasts alike, Dynasty Football combines the real-world stats and player drafting mechanics of fantasy football with the excitement of head-to-head card matches. As the fifth social sports wagering game from FlowPlay, Dynasty Football rounds out the industry's most robust suite of free-to-play fantasy sports-based games.

Fans get ready to dominate the league, crush the competition and become a legend at DynastyFootball.com. Also be sure to check out the gameplay trailer at bit.ly/DynastyFootballGameplay.

Players draft their decks from a set of more than 350 cards in this fast-paced, head-to-head card game designed to simulate a virtual football game. Just like football, the goal is to advance the ball toward the opponent's end zone and score a touchdown. Using 30-card offensive and defensive decks, players devise strategies to build an unstoppable passing offense or the ultimate shutdown defense.

Secure a winning record in Dynasty Football by mastering the gameplay features, including:

  • Build a Team: Essential in the drafting of 7-card hands, Player cards feature a Fantasy Value based on the player's real-world stats from the 2015 season. Cards span offensive and defensive positions such as Quarterback and Defensive Lineman.
  • Win a Down: Similar to rock-paper-scissors, each player position trumps one position, is neutral to another, and it trumped by a third position. The winning formula is simple – if the Player card trumps the opponent's card, the down is won. If the two cards are neutral, the higher Fantasy Value triumphs.
  • Make a Big Play: If the Player card both trumps and has higher Fantasy Value than the opponent's, a Big Play results. On offense this means double the yard gain, while on defense this means a loss of yards for the offense.
  • Power Up: Power cards represent game-changing plays, abilities and strategies such as interceptions, timeouts and formations.
  • Expand the Bench: By winning games and completing daily challenges, players earn virtual currency to purchase new card packs.

"Collectible card games have become increasingly popular over the last two years, and we saw an opportunity to bring our expertise in casual fantasy sports games to this growing market," said Derrick Morton, CEO of FlowPlay. "Dynasty Football brings together the fun of fantasy and strategy of digital card games into a one-of-a-kind, social experience."

FlowPlay is the definitive leader in social sports wagering, with the industry's most robust set of free-to-play fantasy sports-based games. Dynasty Football joins FlowPlay's suite of titles alongside Vegas World Sports Book5 Card DraftAll Star Daily Fantasy and Ready Set Bet. All games can be played in FlowPlay's flagship massively multiplayer online game (MMO), Vegas World.

Ready Set Bet Kicks Off This Football Season, Offers Fans Real-Time Sports Betting Experience

FlowPlay Launches New Social Sports Game Offering Players Live Gameplay During Their Favorite Sporting Events

FlowPlay Launches New Social Sports Game Offering Players Live Gameplay During Their Favorite Sporting Events

SEATTLE, Sept. 13, 2016 -- FlowPlay, creator of the most powerful immersive gaming platform, today announced the launch of its first real-time sports betting game for the start of the 2016 professional football season. The free-to-play game, Ready Set Bet, allows players to get in on the action of their favorite sport and bet on plays in real-time, breaking the barriers of current daily fantasy sports (DFS) offerings. Available in FlowPlay's flagship social casino, Vegas World, players can place a bet on any drive in progress during all live professional football games, with the chance to win a virtual payout after each completed drive.

With 57.4 million North Americans projected to play fantasy sports this year (FSTA), fans are eager to become a part of the game and make predictions on the plays that lead their favorite teams to victory. While traditional fantasy sports experiences only allow fans to hand pick their 'perfect' team, there are very few legal alternatives that allow for more frequent bets and on more than just game outcomes. With live sports viewership and the popularity of fantasy play both growing (FSTA), fans are beginning to seek out these alternative options that allow them to place bets as the game unfolds.

"The current landscape of fantasy football in the U.S. allows for weekly, at most daily options to place sports bets. Armchair quarterbacks everywhere now have a third option to make proposition bets in real-time as they watch games live," said Derrick Morton, CEO of FlowPlay. "While the pay-off may not be real-money, Ready Set Bet does leave plenty of room for bragging rights and, for the first time, truly connects fantasy friends from around the world in one place online to also brag in real-time."

Ready Set Bet offers gameplay betting based on the current drive or play for professional sports leagues, currently including football and baseball. Players can join at any point during a live game to place their bet as innings or drives take place. Bets are paid out with virtual currency and points are determined throughout the game, with the player with the most points at the end of the game declared the winner. One feature that sets Ready Set Bet apart from other betting tools are 'lightning bets,' which encourage players to bet on rapid gameplay situations that pop up throughout a game such as a fourth and short ruling or a challenge on the field. Originally launched as an exclusive preview for the Richard Sherman Celebrity Softball Game, Ready Set Bet will expand to include all professional sports as they are in season.

To calculate the outcome of gameplay, FlowPlay created a proprietary algorithm determining odds based on hundreds of thousands of situational data points for each sport. Ready Set Bet is the latest example of FlowPlay's innovation in the social sport space, based on the company's industry leading suite of offerings including All Star Daily Fantasy, 5 Card Draft and Vegas World Sportsbook. All free-to-play sports betting games are playable at VegasWorld.com.

Vegas World Players Unite to Give Back to U.S. Veterans

Latest FlowPlay In-Game Charity Fundraiser Raises $20,000 to Support Homes for Our Troops

Latest FlowPlay In-Game Charity Fundraiser Raises $20,000 to Support Homes for Our Troops

SEATTLE, July 28, 2016 -- FlowPlay, creator of the most powerful immersive gaming platform, today announced that its most recent in-game giving campaign resulted in a donation of $20,000 for Homes for Our Troops, a non-profit organization that provides Veterans with mortgage-free specially adapted homes to help them readjust into society. More than 30,000 players in FlowPlay's flagship social casino Vegas World participated in the month-long campaign, which was designed to help fund construction of new homes for U.S. Veterans.

Since early 2015, FlowPlay has tapped into its dedicated player base to conduct numerous in-game fundraising campaigns, raising a total of nearly $100,000 for non-profits. The campaigns have supported a range of causes, including STEM education for young girls and free transportation to treatment appointments for cancer patients. The Homes for Our Troops fundraiser reached the milestone of more than 600,000 uniquely branded Vegas World charms purchased to date for non-profit fundraising.

"When FlowPlay approached our organization to host a fundraiser, we were happy to have them on board," said Monica Sweeney, Community Fundraising Coordinator. "Their support will assist us in providing severely injured Veterans with specially adapted homes, allowing them to regain their independence and rebuild their lives."

As a result of a month-long campaign that kicked off over the July Fourth holiday weekend, players purchased more than 100,000 exclusive home-themed charms, for which 100 percent of the proceeds were donated directly to Homes for Our Troops. Coming together to support a great cause, the Vegas World community created more than 700 in-game parties requiring the purchase of the branded charm to participate.

"From the start of this campaign, we knew the Vegas World community was going to fully embrace this cause, as it was one our players have repeatedly expressed a passion for," said Derrick Morton, CEO of FlowPlay. "The ongoing support and enthusiasm from our players drives us to continue partnering with great organziations like Homes for Our Troops to help rebuild the lives of those who serve and protect our country."

About Homes for Our Troops

Homes for Our Troops (HFOT) is a privately funded 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization that builds specially adapted, mortgage-free homes nationwide for the most severely injured Veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan. Most of these veterans have sustained life-altering injuries including multiple limb amputations, partial or full paralysis, and/or severe traumatic brain injury (TBI). These homes restore some of the freedom and independence our Veterans sacrificed while defending our country, and enable them to focus on their family, recovery, and rebuilding their lives. Since its founding in 2004, nearly 90 cents of every dollar donated to HFOT has gone directly to our program services for veterans. HFOT builds these homes where the Veteran chooses to live, and continues its relationship with the Veterans after home delivery to assist them with rebuilding their lives. Bringing More Than 20 Years of Industry Experience, Granick Will Make First Appearance as FlowPlay's Scientist-in-Residence During Casual Connect USA Panel

SAN FRANCISCO, July 20, 2016  -- CASUAL CONNECT USA -- FlowPlay, creator of the most powerful immersive gaming platform, today announced the appointment of OpenFL founder and managing director Joshua Granick as scientist-in-residence. In this platform development and evangelist role, Granick will work to support the growth and evolution of FlowPlay's platform, while continuing to support OpenFL as managing director. Seattle-based FlowPlay recently transitioned its mobile products to OpenFL, and plans to transfer its entire gaming portfolio and future development to the engine.

Backed by more than 20 years of deep developer experience, Granick has held roles spanning major corporations including Intel, HP/Palm and Blackberry, as well as numerous independent game studios. Driven by a passion for development and problem-solving, Granick created OpenFL to improve the quality of immersive experiences and accelerate development time for companies building 2D projects. Going forward, his work with OpenFL will include spearheading new features and serving as a strategic adviser for the more than 300,000 mobile game developers using the open-source, cross-platform engine.

"Thousands of games, technologies and industries are already using OpenFL, and it's a perfect fit to enable FlowPlay's future development plans," Granick said. "By transitioning to OpenFL, FlowPlay has increased the versatility of the company's multiplayer platform while accelerating development times and freeing up more resources to focus on new innovation. I'm eager to become a part of that process and help raise awareness on how OpenFL can help other developers in the casual games industry."

OpenFL uses the Haxe compiler to create HTML5, Flash and native Android, iOS, Windows, Mac or Linux games. OpenFL can also be used for console targets, including PS4, Xbox One and Wii U. The open-source framework is continually growing based on the innovations from a dedicated community of developers who work to strengthen its code and ease-of-use. While primarily designed for 2D game development, the engine can be used across a variety of applications to make it the most flexible codebase to build games on. FlowPlay's transition to the engine will demonstrate the flexibility and performance capabilities OpenFL can enable for the broader casual gaming industry.

"OpenFL and the open-source community created an engine that produces the quality, speed and versatility other engines cannot replicate or compete against," said Derrick Morton, CEO of FlowPlay. "Granick took the time to build an engine for developers and by developers, and offers the industry an intuitive solution to handle the many challenges game creators face on a daily basis. He is an important addition to our team as we look to expand and advance our gaming platform."

Granick will be speaking at Casual Connect USA in San Francisco on a panel Wednesday, July 20 at 11:00am PDT titled, "From Haxe to Unity – What Engines and Code Should Be Powering Your Game." The panel will also feature John Eliot, Technical Director at Unity Technologies, Oleg Pridiuk, Evangelist at King, and will be moderated by Craig Robinson, VP Mobile Games at FlowPlay.

Available now for download in the Google Play store for Android devices and coming soon to iOS, the free-to-play game boasts unmatched multiplayer and social functionality allowing players to chat with friends, share virtual goods, and play their favorite slots alongside hundreds of other players.

Vegas World Free Slots is the latest social casino offering from the development team behind the social casino industry's first truly social free-to-play game, Vegas World. Launching in late 2012, Vegas World features multiplayer functionality and a suite of casual casino-style games that has helped grow a tight-knit community of millions of players who make an average of 46 new friends while playing Vegas World for an average of more than 9 months. With this launch, FlowPlay is building on the success of Vegas World to bring some of the most popular features of the online version to mobile, including social gifting and one-to-many chat.

Key features of Vegas World Free Slots include:

  • One-to-One and One-to-Many Chat – Directly chat with friends or engage with an entire room while playing a variety of slots. Vegas World Free Slots will be the first and only game of its kind to offer a one-to-one chat across the entire player base.

  • Variety of Slots – Choose from more than six slots, including original themes such as Space Girls, Mystic Millions, and Cat Party, for a new spin on classic slots gameplay. New themed slots will launch every two weeks.

"For an industry that touts social capabilities in its own name, the social casino industry is largely overrun by single-player slots games and, as a whole, has failed to provide truly social experiences," said Derrick Morton, CEO of FlowPlay. "Our goal with Vegas World Free Slots is to fill the gap left by today's standard mobile social casinos and bring engaging multiplayer experiences to a game genre that millions of people enjoy everyday."

FlowPlay Kicks Off Casual Fantasy Sports Gaming with Launch of 5 Card Draft

Alongside Launch of New Online Fantasy Sports Card Game, Company Announces Survey Findings Illustrating Fantasy Sports Enthusiasm Among Social Casino Users

Alongside Launch of New Online Fantasy Sports Card Game, Company Announces Survey Findings Illustrating Fantasy Sports Enthusiasm Among Social Casino Users

SEATTLE, Sept. 29, 2015 -- FlowPlay, a leader in virtual world games and technology, today announced the launch of 5 Card Draft – an online multiplayer card game and fantasy football experience. Now available within FlowPlay's social casino Vegas World5 Card Draft is the first-ever casual game to merge poker gameplay with fantasy sports drafting mechanics. In addition to the launch, FlowPlay also announced findings from a recent survey of Vegas World players, which examined casual gamers' interest in fantasy sports. The survey found that one third of casual gamers – defined in the survey as users who are "extremely interested" in casual games – are interested in online fantasy sports, and more than 50 percent expressed heightened interest if real money betting was not required.

According to the Fantasy Sports Trade Association, 56.8 million people will play fantasy sports this year in the United States and Canada, with each player spending an average of $465 on fantasy sports activities annually. While most of those players engage in season-long fantasy, daily fantasy offerings such as FanDuel and DraftKings have rapidly increased general interest in online, daily fantasy sports. With 5 Card Draft, FlowPlay is working to close the gap between daily fantasy sports experiences and the widely established and legal casual games industry. With millions of fantasy sports players, and more than one-third of the U.S. population classifying themselves as causal gamers (eMarketer), the market opportunity is significant.

Bringing the fun of poker and fantasy with friends, 5 Card Draft randomly selects five cards for up to five players in any given game. Each card has a different professional football player and a hand will always include a quarterback, kicker, running back, and two wide receivers. Those players are selected from any of the 32 football teams, with two trades allowed per hand. Points are earned based on each player's stats from the randomly determined year and week of the season for that round. The winner is then determined at the end of six rounds.

To better understand the demand for a casual fantasy sports game, FlowPlay surveyed more than 4,700 Vegas World players on their casual game playing habits and interest in fantasy sports. The findings reveal that 57 percent of the most dedicated casual gamers would be more inclined to play fantasy sports if real money was not involved. Further, users that classified themselves as fantasy sports players – 79 percent – said they would also engage more if there was an option to do so without using real money.

Additional statistics from the survey include:

  • 76 percent of fantasy players are also interested in casual games, with 56 percent of non-fantasy sports players interested in sports in general.
  • More than one-third (37 percent) of respondents who have previously played fantasy sports still feel uncomfortable spending money on online fantasy sports.
  • 71 percent of all respondents reported that they would be more inclined to engage with fantasy sports if they combined elements of casual gaming.
  • Over three-quarters (76 percent) of fantasy players would be more inclined to play a casual fantasy sports game if it included multiplayer functionality.

"With the current landscape of the fantasy sports market, millions of sports enthusiasts have largely been alienated from engaging in fantasy sports due to the complexity and time required to play the existing products," said Derrick Morton, CEO of FlowPlay. "5 Card Draft is the first of several products that we'll be launching in the coming months that aim to intersect casual games and fantasy sports. With the goal of connecting with unreached audiences, our fantasy sports games will include a range of gameplay options and feature sports beyond football."

In addition to FlowPlay's flagship social casino Vegas World, the company also developed the industry's first social casino white-label product. With deep experience working with major brands and developers, FlowPlay now also offers white-label options to businesses interested in creating casual fantasy sports games.

The full survey findings are available upon request.

Girlstart and FlowPlay Team Up to Drive Gaming-Based Donations that Support STEM Education for Girls

FlowPlay Partnership Marks Girlstart's First In-Game Fundraiser; Fuels Seattle-Area Summer Camp and Other National Programs

FlowPlay Partnership Marks Girlstart's First In-Game Fundraiser; Fuels Seattle-Area Summer Camp and Other National Programs

SEATTLE and AUSTIN, Texas, Dec. 10, 2014 -- FlowPlay, a leader in virtual world games and technology, today announced its partnership with Girlstart, a nonprofit that inspires girls interest and engagement in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) through innovative, nationally-recognized informal STEM education programs. As Girlstart's first-ever in-game fundraising campaign, beginning now through Jan. 5, FlowPlay's ourWorld or Vegas World players can raise money for Girlstart STEM programs by purchasing uniquely branded Girlstart virtual goods. One hundred percent of the proceeds will benefit Girlstart programs nationwide, including the entire funding of a Girlstart summer camp, taking place in Bellevue, Wash. in Summer 2015.

The U.S. faces a critical shortage of skilled STEM workers, and an even larger deficit of women in STEM. While more women than men enroll in college, women earn only 31% of total STEM degrees, only one in seven engineering degrees, and only 18% of computer science degrees. Furthermore, women hold only 24% of the nation's STEM jobs. Girlstart programs engage girls in STEM education, empower them to continue these studies, and inspire them to pursue STEM careers, to ultimately help address workforce inequities, impact innovation, and build bright futures for girls and their families.

FlowPlay and Girlstart share a common focus on increasing girls interest in technology, a cause that has been traditionally underserved – particularly amongst the gaming community – and one that was an early motivator for FlowPlay's flagship game. Currently, ourWorld boasts more than 800,000 active users, a majority of which are females (65%) under the age of 18 (80%).

Through Jan. 5, ourWorld players can use their in-world virtual currency, Gems, to purchase a 'Rocket Science Girl,' which will accompany their avatar throughout the game and enable them to gain Flow 100% faster, an aspect of the game that allows players to level-up and boost their in-game experience. Every purchase of the 'Rocket Science Girl' equates to a $5 donation to Girlstart. Players in FlowPlay's social casino title, Vegas World, can also contribute through purchases of a Rocket Ship Charm, which will provide a $0.50 donation to Girlstart.

"Like Girlstart, FlowPlay and its games meet girls where they are, by connecting their interests in technology with their social activities," said Julie Shannan, deputy director at Girlstart. "Part of our philosophy is that girls can be true to who they are and pursue STEM interests, and ourWorld provides an environment that fosters that same passion for individuality and technology. Our partnership with FlowPlay signifies our very first in-game fundraising effort, making this campaign a huge milestone for our technology-centric organization."

"We wanted to support an organization that is addressing a cause deeply rooted in the genesis of our company and core audience, and one for which we can really make an impact," said Derrick Morton, CEO of FlowPlay. "Girlstart is highly active, with programs that actually make a difference for elementary and middle-school aged girls. With this in-game donations campaign, ourWorld users have the opportunity to move the needle with an organization they can relate to, and see the tangible impact of their contributions."

All proceeds will support Girlstart programs nationwide, with a special emphasis on Girlstart STEM summer camps. In 2013, the Girlstart Summer Camp program was recognized by Change the Equation as one of four "exemplary" and "highly scalable" innovative STEM education programs in the United States. Girlstart summer camps are weeklong learning experiences in STEM that introduce 4th-8th grade girls to the fun of STEM through innovative hands-on learning challenges.

Since 2011, Girlstart has provided free summer camp programming to high-need girls in Bellevue, Wash., but the organization is continually seeking financial, facilities and volunteer partners from surrounding Seattle Area businesses. Thanks to FlowPlay's contributions, Girlstart will bring this award-winning weeklong camp back to the Bellevue community in Summer 2015.

FlowPlay Ups the Ante With BetZone, the Social Casino Industry's First-Ever Sports Betting Gameplay

Establishes Vegas World as the First Social Casino MMORPG to Combine Lucrative Sports and Lifestyle Betting With Multiplayer Casino-Style Gaming

Establishes Vegas World as the First Social Casino MMORPG to Combine Lucrative Sports and Lifestyle Betting With Multiplayer Casino-Style Gaming

SEATTLE, WA - Sep 16, 2014 -- FlowPlay, a leader in virtual world games and technology, today introduced BetZone, the first-ever sports betting offering available in the rapidly growing social casino market. Available in FlowPlay's flagship social casino MMORPG, Vegas World, is the first virtual world and social casino offering to incorporate multiplayer sports betting functionality. BetZone gives players the ability to bet virtual currency (coins) on sporting events such as NFL games or the MLB World Series. In coming weeks, BetZone will incorporate casual fantasy sports-related games, political betting on elections from around the world, and lifestyle betting on elimination-driven TV shows or other pop culture events. During the first weekend of beta launch, 35,000 bets were made and 20 billion coins wagered within BetZone.

Sports betting accounts for a majority of the online gambling market opportunity. In fact, according to sports data analysts, Sportsradar, worldwide sports betting revenues are estimated to be between $700 billion and $1 trillion each year. As real-money gaming and online gambling remain highly regulated industries across the globe, many business leaders are cashing in on the rapidly growing social casino market, which Eilers Research estimates generated 10x the revenue of regulated online gambling in Q1 2014 (US).

FlowPlay social casino games far surpass competitive monetization rates, including an average revenue per daily active user (ARPDAU) of 44 cents -- more than double the industry standard of 21 cents ARPDAU. FlowPlay also achieves the second highest monetization rates on desktop, according statistics reporter by SuperData in July 2014. With BetZone, FlowPlay is bringing lucrative sports betting to social casinos for the first time.

BetZone goes beyond a traditional online sportsbook by incorporating social interactions in a virtual environment. For example, players can see what bets other players are placing, and wager up to 10 percent of their own coin bank -- stimulating conversation and community. BetZone is offered within a social casino virtual world, allowing players to chat, exchange drink charms or simultaneously enjoy additional multiplayer casino-style games, including bingo, poker, slots, or blackjack.

"Incorporating sports betting into our social casino virtual environments was a natural progression for FlowPlay and Vegas World," said Derrick Morton, CEO of FlowPlay. "FlowPlay brings a multiplayer environment and games mentality to this genre, and no one has ever approach it in this way. Betting virtual currency is just the first sports play for us, and we're eager to bring more casual fantasy sports-related games unlike anything the industry has ever experienced."

Separate from its own social casino consumer product, Vegas World, FlowPlay's social casino white-label platform helps companies integrate and capitalize on sports betting and social casino revenue opportunities. FlowPlay partners can quickly and easily bring their own uniquely branded, multiplayer social casino offerings to market. In addition to sports betting, white-label partners can launch a full spectrum of social casino games, such as bingo, poker, slots, blackjack or custom-built casino-style games all within a virtual world environment.

FlowPlay Unlocks Vegas World Platform to Empower Developers to Build Unique Social Casinos Games for Web, Facebook and Mobile Devices

Joju Games Launches Custom Social Casino Game Built on FlowPlay Platform, Cutting Development Time in Half and Doubling Monetization Opportunities

Joju Games Launches Custom Social Casino Game Built on FlowPlay Platform, Cutting Development Time in Half and Doubling Monetization Opportunities

AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS - Feb 12, 2014 -- Casual Connect Europe -- FlowPlay, a leader in virtual world games and technology, today unlocked the back-end development technology behind its leading social casino MMO, Vegas World. With the platform, developers gain access to the infrastructure, analytics and monetization tools required to quickly create and drive revenue from custom social casino games across all channels -- including web, Facebook, and iOS or Android devices and tablets.

According to SuperData Research, the social casino market is one of the fastest growing segments in the casual gaming industry, with revenue predicted to reach $4.4 billion worldwide by 2015. As online gaming companies and land-based casinos aggressively bring social casino games to market, the industry is becoming increasingly saturated. While many developers are building traditional social casino games from scratch -- such as single-player slots, poker or blackjack -- there is tremendous pressure to differentiate from the crowd.

With FlowPlay's Vegas World technology platform, developers can build unique, multiplayer social casino offerings that span beyond traditional casino games. In additional to accelerating game development cycles, developers can increase monetization opportunities by leveraging the platform's robust analytics, in-game advertising and payment system integrations.

Veteran developer Juan Gril, the mastermind behind Bingo Blingo and founder of Joju Games, is the first to develop a standalone social casino title on the FlowPlay Vegas World platform. As a one-of-a-kind fruit-themed fusion of slots and bingo, Fringo will join Joju's impressive casual game roster, which includes over 50 titles for brands including MTV, Nickelodeon and Comedy Central. Fringo is currently available at VegasWorld.com, WildTangent.com and FringoGame.com, and will soon be available on Facebook and Android devices in early 2014.

"In the highly competitive casual games market, the ability to leverage FlowPlay's platform to decrease both the time and budget needed to bring Fringo to market was a no-brainer," said Juan Gril, founder and studio manager at Joju Games. "FlowPlay's comprehensive development platform and industry-high revenue per monthly active user were key factors in our partnership. Fringo is already seeing great success, and we're looking forward to bringing additional social casino games to market with FlowPlay."

FlowPlay's Vegas World-based development platform includes:

  • Social Interactions: Within any game room or other environments, players can conduct numerous social interactions including one-to-one or one-to-many chat conversations, and sharing of virtual goods.
  • Massive Multiplayer Online (MMO) Architecture: Providing the infrastructure to allow thousands of players to enter the game, compete against, and socialize with each other, while providing the gambling mechanics that ensures the room size and structure maximizes the effectiveness of the payout systems.
  • Turnkey Integrations with Gaming Distributors: Integration across every major web and mobile platform including WildTangent, Yahoo Games, Google Play, the Kindle store, Facebook, mobile devices, tablets, etc.
  • Established Payment System: Network of more than 20 different payment providers, both domestically in the U.S. and internationally. Payment options include all major credit cards, PayPal, pre-paid cards available in all major grocery stores, PayNearMe bill pay at 7-eleven locations, and mail-in cash or check payments.
  • In-Game Advertising Partners: Developers can easily integrate in-game ads with eight preferred partners, including RadiumOne and Matomy.
  • Deep Analytics & Reporting: Extensive dashboard including up to 300 metrics for reporting, breaking down game-play and revenues across player location and activity, platform, payment method, and marketing call-to-action, among others. The reporting grid provides a robust set of revenue-share analytics to empower customers to promptly and accurately communicate earnings to key stakeholders or partners.

"The industry is incredibly saturated, and developers are hungry for a way to differentiate their social casino titles. True innovation will come when developers expand beyond single-player slot games to offering unique, multiplayer titles that foster a truly social experience," said Derrick Morton, CEO of FlowPlay. "Juan and Joju Games turned to our industry-proven technology platform to take their social casino game to the next level. Their deep experience developing incredibly successful casual games makes them an ideal partner to transform the social casino industry as we know it today."

To enter, users must sign up through one of Vegas World's portals, create an avatar, and play in at least one of the several game rooms including slots, bingo or poker. By providing a deeper social experience than other social casino games, Vegas World has attracted over one million player registrations, and surpassed 350,000 unique monthly active users. As a result, Vegas World players average 40 minutes per session and monetize at well over $3 per MAU (monthly active user). This $1 million promotion commemorates Vegas World's recent launch out of beta by welcoming players with a free chance to win big in real life.

"To thrive in a crowded social casino market, we keep the most important element in mind: our players," said Derrick Morton, CEO of FlowPlay and Vegas World. "We see a distinct correlation between those that actively enjoy casino-style games and those that enter sweepstakes. We're combining the excitement of a $1 million sweepstakes with our virtual world to provide players with a full Las Vegas experience online."

The sweepstakes is enabled by CataBoom, a Dallas, TX sweepstakes marketing provider and SCA Promotions subsidiary, through their The Prize SDK™ technology. CataBoom provides game developers the opportunity to offer players the chance to win exciting sweepstakes prizes for a fixed fee that is a fraction of the actual prize value. This partnership marks CataBoom's first $1 million sweepstakes through an online social casino game.

"Vegas World has a proven track record for innovating in a competitive social casino market, making them a perfect fit for the first-ever $1 million promotion in the industry," said Todd McGee, CEO of CataBoom. "We've worked on promotions with companies including EMC, McDonalds, Taco Bell and Subway, and we're certain to see the same level of success amongst Vegas World's dedicated player community."

Contest eligibility will run from Nov. 25 through Nov. 24, 2014 for players residing in the United States, United Kingdom and Canada. For more information, visit: http://www.vegasworld.com/vg/linkpage.jsp?env=home&page=sweepstakes

The dynamic platform provides the back-end infrastructure and analytics for partners to launch uniquely branded, consumer-facing social casino games delivered online, on Facebook, or via iOS and Android devices.

According to a report by SuperData, revenue from social casino games is expected to reach $4.4 billion worldwide by 2015, with 35.4 million monthly social casino players in the U.S. in 2012 alone. As businesses aggressively place their bets on a rapidly growing social casino market, FlowPlay's platform differentiates itself by offering a truly social gaming experience -- which is now available as an out-of-the-box white-label solution.

"We've seen significant demand from businesses that want to enter the hot social casino market. Our first-to-market white-label platform provides a solution for companies that don't have the resources to build their own from scratch," said Derrick Morton, CEO of FlowPlay. "We give businesses the underlying platform, analytics and suite of casino games they desire, with a mix of social, casual casino and multiplayer features that no one else in the market offers."

For example, the white-label platform enables land-based casino operators to extend real-world gameplay to their own customized social casino virtual environment. Real-world casinos with established branding such as nightclubs, restaurants, and pools can now be mirrored online in equally social environments. As a result, these "hybrid" casinos can drive additional revenue streams by capitalizing on the 83 percent of social casino players that frequent land-based casinos at least once a year.

Additional features available in the white-label platform include:

  • Comprehensive Gameplay: Synchronous multiplayer gameplay for all casino-based classics, including more than 20 slots, poker, blackjack, bingo, and solitaire.
  • Social Interactions: Within any game room or other environments, players can conduct numerous social interactions including one-to-one or one-to-many chat conversations, and sharing of virtual goods.

The multiplayer social environment crossed with casual casino play fosters player retention rates twice that of industry standards, with users averaging more than forty minutes of play per session. Industry-proven monetization methods also provide additional revenue streams beyond coin-based purchases, including personalized avatars and payout-boosting Charms, which amplify revenues with the ability to purchase and share such items with in-game connections.
